A short history of the serving cart
The serving cart, also known as a tea trolley or service table, emerged in the 17th century. At the time, it was used for serving and clearing dishes and tableware during meals. Equipped with casters, it could be moved from one place to another effortlessly, allowing for quicker clearing of the table by reducing the number of trips between the dining room and the kitchen. It is through this great utility that the serving cart became an important piece of furniture, also used for serving tea or breakfast. Over the centuries, this small mobile side table has found a prime spot in our homes.
