With their original red-painted metal, this set of six 1960s bistro chairs brings a touch that is both retro and contemporary. Their well-heightened seats and backrests offer suitable comfort for a dining table, as well as a sheltered terrace or a kitchen with a bold style. The metal emphasizes a graphic presence, while the red color warms the overall look with restraint. As second-hand pieces, they combine a vintage allure with a curated feel, without losing their sobriety. Placed around a wooden table and accompanied by ceramic tableware, they create a lively and polished setting. Like any second-hand furniture, they bear the marks of their history: a few chips in the paint.

A brief history of the chair
In the Middle Ages, sitting on a chair with a backrest was a rare privilege, reserved for the person leading the assembly: the "president" (from the Latin praesidere, to sit before). Long a symbol of prestige compared to the benches and stools of the common people, the chair only became democratized in the 18th century, evolving into an everyday object. It is distinguished from the armchair by the absence of armrests, with a structure designed to offer complete freedom of movement around a table or desk. The result of a constant quest for balance between lightness and solidity, it has evolved from carved solid wood to more modern lines, making each seat a witness to the history of comfort.
