A brief history of the rocking chair
The rocking chair made its appearance in English households in the 18th century. It reflects a new way of living for a society aspiring to more comfort and frivolity in daily life. The family-owned Thonet manufacturer adopted the model to reinvent the rocking chair using steam-bent wood techniques. The rocking chair caused a sensation in Europe and was imported as far as the United States, where it became a staple of the American Empire style. Its gentle rocking motion is perfect for letting yourself drift into daydreams with a good cup of tea!
