A Brief History of the Rocking Chair
The rocking chair made its appearance in English families in the 18th century. It reflected the new way of life in society, which aspired to more comfort and frivolity in daily life. The Thonet family manufactory took up the model to reinvent the rocking chair with the technique of steam-bent wood. The rocking chair was a sensation in Europe and was imported to the United States, where it became a staple of the American Empire style. Its gentle sway is perfect for letting yourself drift off into daydreams with a good cup of tea!
