A brief history of the rocking chair
It was in the 18th century that the rocking chair first appeared in English homes. It reflected a new way of life in society, which aspired to greater comfort and leisure in their daily lives. The Thonet family workshop took this model and reinvented the rocking chair using the technique of steam-bent wood. The rocking chair became a sensation in Europe and was imported to the United States, where it became a staple of the American Empire style. Its gentle rocking motion is perfect for indulging in daydreams with a good cup of tea!
