A Brief History of the Pedestal Table
Appearing in the 17th century, the pedestal table takes its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon", who held a torch. Initially designed as a support for lighting (candlesticks, lamps), this small occasional table is distinguished by its circular top resting on a single central base. Whether it's an Empire style in solid mahogany or a Seventies rattan piece, it adapts to all interiors as a side table or display table. Today, it remains the centerpiece for elegantly and lightly structuring a reading nook.
