A brief history of the pedestal table
Appearing in the 17th century, the pedestal table gets its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon," who held a torch. Initially designed as a support for lighting (candlesticks, lamps), this small occasional furniture piece is distinguished by its circular top resting on a single central base. Whether it's an Empire style in solid mahogany or a Seventies rattan piece, it adapts to all interiors as an end table or display table. Today, it remains a key piece for elegantly and lightly structuring a reading nook.
