A brief history of the guéridon
Appearing in the 17th century, the "guéridon" takes its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon," who held a torch. Initially designed as a stand for lighting (candlesticks, lamps), this small side piece is distinguished by its circular top resting on a single central pedestal. Whether an Empire-style piece in solid mahogany or a 1970s rattan version, it adapts to any interior as a sofa end or display table. Today, it remains a centerpiece for elegantly and lightly structuring a reading nook.
