A brief history of the pedestal table
Appearing in the 17th century, the guéridon takes its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon," who held a torch. Initially designed as a support for lighting (candlesticks, lamps), this small occasional table is characterized by its circular top resting on a single central base. Whether Empire style in solid mahogany or Seventies style in rattan, it adapts to all interiors as a side table or display stand. Today, it remains a centerpiece for elegantly and lightly structuring a reading corner.
