A Brief History of the Pedestal Table
Appearing in the 17th century, the pedestal table (guéridon) takes its name from a ballet character, "Guéridon," who held a torch. Initially designed as a support for lighting (candlesticks, lamps), this small occasional table is distinguished by its circular top resting on a single central base. Whether in solid mahogany Empire style or Seventies rattan, it adapts to all interiors as an end table or display table. Today, it remains a centerpiece for structuring a reading corner with elegance and lightness.
