Laurent Karagueuzian is a contemporary artist whose approach is rooted in a sensitive observation of nature. Through his series Papiers écorchés , he develops a unique visual language, based on the work of gesture and material. By mixing masking, tempera painting and tearing, he creates rhythmic compositions, where light and texture interact subtly. Refusing pure abstraction, he describes his work as non-figurative, because it is always connected to the real and the visible. His work explores the boundaries between full and empty, the painted and the unpainted, inviting silent and almost meditative contemplation.
